Cubing Triangles Lookout is designed for Egret point overlooking the historic L.A. River in Los Angeles. Even though Egret Park is the smallest park in Los Angeles it overlooks some of the most important frameworks to the history of Los Angeles, The Train, the 5 and 110 freeways, and the last unpaved part of the Los Angeles River. This project was designed to accentuate these important landmarks while having a minimal impact on the site. Using the theme of “dancing with gravity” the structure uses structural elegance as its guide for form. The pavilion uses the ideal structural form “a Triangle” and multiplies and overlaps it to create movement recognizing the important points on the site. the final form comes from a compilation of three architectural forms of formal manipulation, artistic manipulation (object based), derived manipulation (comes from site conditions), and load based articulation (engineered).
